Design for Baby Wellness

L’Inglesina Baby S.p.A. has launched a new project focused on the development of innovative baby products designed to ensure the highest level of child wellbeing. The project has been supported by the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy and by the Veneto Region through the granting of a direct contribution of €2,015,931 and a subsidized loan of €1,374,281.

The industrial research activities aim to define an experimental methodology (Design of Experiment) that will enable the inclusion of new design parameters intended to maximize child health. Furthermore, the ambition is to identify which variables related to environmental or physiological parameters can be effectively measured in real time during the use of Inglesina products, and to determine the most suitable onboard sensor technologies for data collection. This objective will be achieved through collaboration with research organizations specialized in neonatal health, bioengineering and mechanical engineering.

The planned experimental development activities involve the creation of innovative prototypes across the various Inglesina product categories, based on the specifications defined during the research phase.

Environmental sustainability is a key focus of the project: innovative materials with a lower carbon footprint will be studied. The design of the prototype models will also be oriented towards product lightweighting, reducing the use of raw materials. The calculation of the reduction in environmental impacts associated with the project activities will be carried out analytically using LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) tools.

Ultimately, the project will result in the development of innovative solutions for the baby transport systems sector, designed based on new metrics focused on child wellbeing and integrated with components for monitoring specific parameters related to child health.
